Anything Box Interview May 2007

If you grew up in the late 80s and you enjoy synthpop & new wave music, chances are you’ve heard of a band called Anything Box. And if you’ve never heard of them I suggest going to YouTube and do a search for Anything Box – Living in Oblivion. That’s the song that got them a record deal with Epic records back in 1989.

Since then Anything Box has released over 10 albums, mostly under their own independent record label. They have been creating beautiful music for almost 20 yrs now and after all these years, the music and melodies have just gotten better.

For those of you who may not know, Anything Box is set to release the long awaited EP entitled Future Past. This EP will include 4 different remixes of “Carmen”. Claude asked the ABOX street team to email their interviews to help promote the release, and here is mine:

What are sitemaps?

Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.

Ways to Increase Traffic

It’s all about traffic at the end of the day. And not just any traffic. If you want to run a successful online business you need highly targeted traffic. Targeted traffic helps you achieve your goal and that goal could be anything: selling a product or a service, generating ad revenue or encouraging people to subscribe to your newsletter or RSS feeds. So how do you drive highly targeted traffic to your website?

Inbound links are important in two ways: they send you high-value traffic from other niche websites; the search engines reward you for getting inbound links from reputed and trusted websites.

You can get inbound links by:

• Having high-quality content so that people link to you as a valuable source.
• Submitting articles to various online article directories; you can add your resource box at the bottom of every article for letting them publish it for free, and that resource box should carry your link.
• Interacting on various online forums, bulletin boards, news groups and blogs. These mediums let you leave your link when you add value to the ongoing conversations.
• Being active on social media website.

On the web you can find 100s of ways you can increase traffic to your website, but these are the fundamental steps you can take to make a very big difference.

Yes my site is finally up after many months of pondering what kind of contents I should have, in the end it was decided that the site was going to be content driven as oppose to graphic driven. I guess I just felt the need for a new and fresh design, but most importantly I wanted to create a site that will serve as a starting point for anybody interested in starting their own website.
